A Community-Based Healing and Wellness Initiative
Pillars of Promise is a trauma-informed, community-based healing and wellness program designed to support emotional well-being, connection, and resilience among youth and adults living in Washington, DC, with a focus on residents of Wards 7 and 8.
The program offers accessible, supportive spaces for individuals to engage in wellness activities, build coping skills, and connect with community resources in a welcoming, non-clinical environment.
Pillars of Promise is a support-based program and does not provide clinical therapy, diagnosis, or treatment.
Our Approach
Pillars of Promise centers healing, dignity, and choice. Programming is designed to be:
- Trauma-informed and wellness-based
- Community-centered and accessible
- Supportive, not clinical
- Grounded in connection and empowerment
Participants are invited to engage at their own comfort level. Sharing personal experiences is always optional, and all activities are facilitated in a respectful and affirming environment.
Programs & Events
Mind-Body Healing Workshops
Mind-Body Healing Workshops are interactive, trauma-informed wellness sessions focused on stress relief, grounding, and emotional regulation. Participants engage in gentle movement, breathwork, and guided reflection to support overall well-being.
These workshops are offered as stand-alone community sessions throughout the year and are open to youth and adults ages 16–60.
Healing Support Groups (6-Week Cycles)
Healing Support Groups provide a safe, affirming space for participants to process stress, grief, and life challenges while building coping skills and community connection.
Groups are offered in structured 6-week cycles and are facilitated using a support-based, non-clinical approach. Participants may share or simply listen, and attendance is voluntary.
Community Healing Events
Quarterly Community Healing Events bring residents together for collective wellness experiences that promote emotional well-being, grounding, and connection. Events may include wellness activities, healing engagement, and opportunities to connect with community resources.
These events are designed to be welcoming, low-barrier, and accessible to the broader community.
Who Can Participate
- Open to youth and adults ages 16–60
- Focused on residents of Washington, DC, particularly Wards 7 and 8
- All events are free and open to the community

Participants seeking clinical or emergency mental health services are encouraged to contact appropriate providers or emergency resources.
