What Does It Take to Start a Successful Nonprofit?

September 22, 2022 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Like many small businesses, successful nonprofits have founders, boards of directors, and senior leadership who adopt a business mindset to accompany their mission and passion. While mission and passion are essential ingredients, starting a nonprofit, like starting a for-profit business, is an arduous task and can take considerable time, effort and know-how to launch successfully.

If you are thinking about starting a nonprofit, then you’re invited to participate in a virtual think-tank discussion. Join the Center for Nonprofit AdvancementDC Bar Pro Bono Center and nonprofit consultant, Larry Robertson for an informative, introductory opportunity.

During this session, we will provide an overview of key considerations and review your needs in areas such as the following:

  • Developing a conceptually sound organization and approach
  • Conducting market analysis of need and competition
  • Establishing the required regulatory and legal foundation to operate
  • Assembling the requisite leadership, practices, and resources to be successful

Then we’ll use your input to design services and resources that provide in-depth guidance on starting a new nonprofit in DC.

Take a key step toward turning your great idea into reality—join us on September 22!

Who Should Attend: Anyone who is thinking about or is in the incubation phase of starting a nonprofit in DC. [If you have already started a nonprofit, we encourage you to consider the many other services that the Center and DC Bar Pro Bono Center offer to existing nonprofits.]
