Tell us about your leadership style and how this contributes to your organization’s success.

My leadership approach focuses on shared vision and values. I strive to identify, share and build an expansive vision for what HealthHIV can achieve in improving healthcare across various chronic diseases and in diverse communities. Our staff build upon that vision and align it with our organizational values — all creating and sustaining a shared purpose and reason for being. This approach drives our success as our team is encouraged to expand our capabilities, reach, and services across healthcare systems and settings reaching diverse, disenfranchised and underserved communities.

What advice would you offer for other nonprofit leaders?

Through these incredibly difficult times with funding constraints, policy changes and workforce reductions, it’s important for leaders to remain involved and not run from the challenges, and remain courageous in doing so. Many people rely on us as nonprofit leaders to provide services that meet community needs, so it’s more important now than ever that we remain ready, relevant and resilient.

What does this award mean for you and your organization?

This award is very meaningful to HealthHIV and the National Coalition for LGBTQ Health, in that it provides resources for our professional development that we otherwise wouldn’t have available. Through this training, we will be able to more effectively and strategically fulfill our mission and improve and expand healthcare delivery in DC and nationally.
