Federal Housing Finance Agency Responds to Local Leaders
The Federal Housing Finance Agency has responded to a recent letter sent by the Center for Nonprofit Advancement and a coalition of umbrella organizations in the region regarding charitable contributions by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
The letter states:
“The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), as Conservator of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, appreciates your concerns about the significant charitable roles the Enterprises fill in the National Capital Region…The Conservator has advised the Congress that there will be a review of the charitable activities of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to ensure that such activities serve their mission and are appropriate to their conservatorship status. That review continues and should soon be complete. It is envisioned that the Enterprises will continue to make charitable contributions.”
