Call for Applications

The Washington Post, in partnership with the Center for Nonprofit Advancement, announces the call for applications for The Washington Post 2011 Award for Excellence in Nonprofit Management. Applications can be submitted beginning today through January 7, 2011.

A $10,000 cash grant will be presented to the winning organization.  The Executive Director will also receive a scholarship to Georgetown University’s Center for Public and Nonprofit Leadership Certificate Program and the organization will be recognized as the 2011 winner in the Washington Post. Up to four honorable mentions will also be presented with a $2,500 cash grant award and be recognized. All applicants receive feedback on their management practices from the Award Selection Committee.

In its 17th year of competition, The Washington Post Award for Excellence in Nonprofit Management rewards management competence, recognizes innovation and promotes sustainable best practices that lead to excellence in nonprofit management.  The 2010 recipient of The Washington Post Award was PHILLIPS Programs for Children and Families, which serves the needs of individuals with emotional and behavioral problems and their families throughout Greater Washington.

The competition is open to any 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in the Washington metropolitan area. A full list of past recipients is available online.
