Center Launches Partnership with Capital Business to Expand Exposure of Region’s Nonprofits

The Center for Nonprofit Advancement has launched a new partnership with Capital Business to share best practices in nonprofit management.

Capital Business is a weekly publication from The Washington Post that covers local industries and companies, as well as the dynamics of doing business in and around the greater Washington area.

Economic Strain Continues Among Area Nonprofits, Some Indicate Glimmer of Hope

May 14, 2012—Washington, DC—A study released today by the Center for Nonprofit Advancement demonstrates there is persistent strain on nonprofit organizations throughout Greater Washington. However, in this fifth regional study, local nonprofits report receiving some positive news from funders in conjunction with declines in revenue and increases in demand for services.

Nonprofit Business Law Series Graduates Leaders

On May 10, a second class of nonprofit leaders graduated from the eight-part business law course for nonprofit executives: Understanding the Fundamentals of Nonprofit Organizations.  The series, co-sponsored by the Center, the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Program and the law firm of Arnold & Porter, provided 42 nonprofit executives with expert advice on legal issues facing the nonprofit community.

Health Program Open Enrollment 2012-2013 Kicks Off

On April 19, more than 300 Center members came together in-person and live online to learn the latest news, changes and information on the Center's Health Care Program which brings access to affordable and comprehensive medical coverage to nearly 6,000 nonprofit employees and family members throughout the region.

New for Members: Pre-tax Transportation Benefit

On April 19, the Center for Nonprofit Advancement introduced a new pre-tax transportation benefit for Center members. 

Pre-tax transportation accounts save money for both employers and employees. Employees can use pre-tax transportation benefits for work-related mass transit fares, qualified parking costs, van pooling charges, and even bike-related expenses. Employers save money through lower FICA tax payments.

Center members receive complimentary account set-up (a savings of $225).

New for Members: Aflac Voluntary Benefits, Free Section 125 Plan Administration

On April 19, the Center for Nonprofit Advancement introduced a new benefit partner to provide Aflac voluntary benefits and complimentary Section 125 Plan (Cafeteria Plan) administration to member nonprofits.
