Board Leadership Award

A program of the Center for Nonprofit Advancement in partnership with Reznick Group and BoardSource, the Center for Nonprofit Advancement Board Leadership Award recognizes and spotlights outstanding leadership from Boards of Directors of Washington-area nonprofit organizations.

The award winners are selected through a competitive process by a Selection Committee comprised of individuals with a wide range of expertise in board governance and nonprofit management. The program began in 2011 and is open to all Center members and any 501(c) nonprofit in the Washington metropolitan area.

The Board of Directors of two organizations will be selected annually as Board Leadership Award winners—one for an organization with an annual budget under $2 million and one for an organization with an annual budget over $2 million. 

Two organizations winning the award each receive:

  • a $10,000 grant
  • communication exposure through print, radio, television and social media
  • training and development opportunities for the board and CEO from BoardSource and the Center’s Learning & Leadership Institute

Up to two organizations from each category will be selected as honorable mention recipients to receive:

  • communication exposure through print, radio, television and social media
  • training and development opportunities for the board and CEO from the Center’s Learning & Leadership Institute

The 2012 nomination period is February 1 through March 16. The competition continues through the spring when the award is presented in July.
